The UAE government is taking a proactive approach to address global climate change by fostering collaboration between the cutting-edge technology and space sectors. The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), the UAE Space Agency, and COP28, under the Office of the UAE Special Envoy for Climate Change (OSECC), are joining forces to support organizations in these sectors in showcasing their contributions to environmental initiatives at the Center for Innovation and Innovation during COP28.

The collaboration aims to create a comprehensive environment at COP28 by bringing together leading technology companies, global institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and space agencies to promote collective action on climate goals. It also seeks to attract technology and industrial companies from around the world to use the UAE as a hub for developing new technologies that can drive sustainable industrial development, combat climate change, and accelerate decarbonization.

Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of State for Public Education and Advanced Technology, emphasizes the crucial roles of advanced technology and space sectors in national economies as drivers of innovation and enablers of achieving net-zero goals. She believes that this collaboration will prepare stakeholders ahead of COP28 by connecting the UAE with the global space and technology ecosystem at the Innovation and Innovation Center.

The UAE government is committed to making COP28 a comprehensive event that results in tangible action. As government knowledge partners during the event, MoIAT and UAESA will invite participants from various sectors, such as SMEs and startups, to showcase their environmental technologies and innovations at the Innovation and Innovation Center. This approach ensures representation from all segments of society and the economy.

Diplomat Majid Al Suwaidi, Director General and COP28 Special Delegate, highlights the importance of leveraging technological solutions to accelerate energy transition, develop advanced early warning systems, support local adaptation efforts, and enhance resilience in cities, industries, and communities.

This partnership aims to promote collaboration in areas of mutual interest between the business and space sectors, aligning their outcomes with the objectives of COP28. By promoting cooperation, it aims to facilitate progress toward the goals set by the Paris Agreement while solidifying the UAE’s position as a global hub for innovation in environmental technologies.

Through this collaboration, MoIAT, the UAE Space Agency, and COP28 through OSECC will engage in data sharing to expedite the development of advanced technological solutions leading up to the conference. This contribution will leave a lasting legacy on a global scale.

In summary, this collaborative effort between UAE government entities demonstrates a forward-looking approach to combating climate change by harnessing cutting-edge technology and space exploration. By fostering innovation, encouraging collaboration, and creating an inclusive ecosystem at COP28, this initiative aims to drive substantial action toward achieving climate goals.
