Members were gathered by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Cop 28 Higher Committee in charge of summit preparations, to discuss priorities, milestones, and preparations.
According to the news , Sheikh Abdullah addressed the meeting about the UAE’s responsibility as the conference’s host and the country’s inclusive approach to planning and organizing the event.
He stated, “Cop28 will be a significant meeting point for heads of state, business leaders, civil society leaders, the scientific community, youth, and all segments of society, as we deliberate where the world stands today on climate action, and what must be done to shift from promises to progress by 2030 in line with the Paris Agreement.” This will take place as the world considers where the world stands today on climate action.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Cop28 President-designate and Vice Chairman of the Higher Committee, spoke about the summit presidency tour during the committee meeting.
The G7 Climate, Energy, and Environment Ministerial took place in Sapporo, Japan, and the World Bank and IMF held their spring meetings in Washington.
Dr. Sultan Al Jaber stated, “Climate change is more than just an environmental challenge; it is also an economic issue.”
“We require a strategy that simultaneously reduces emissions and ensures economic prosperity and energy accessibility.
“Cop28 will collaborate with all stakeholders to accelerate a business-oriented strategy that strikes a balance between climate action and sustainable social and economic growth.”
“To ignite a transformative Cop28 agenda that is pro-growth, pro-climate, and leaves no one behind, we must cooperate.
“We are calling for greater climate cooperation to accelerate progress across the core climate pillars as the Cop28 Presidency continues its global listening and engagement tour.
“We have also been reiterating the necessity of a fair and practical energy transition and supporting reforms of international financial institutions and multilateral development banks to make climate finance, particularly for the Global South, more affordable, accessible, and available.
“We are committed to shaping a Cop28 agenda that includes everyone and gives everyone a chance to be heard and help with the process.”
Minister of Community Development and Youth Climate Champion for Cop28 Shamma Al-Mazrui talked more about how well the International Youth Climate Delegate Program was received at the Road to Cop28 event last month.
Over 3,000 people from all over the UAE attended the event at Expo City Dubai to raise awareness of climate change and motivate action in the Year of Sustainability.
The Cop28 UAE Higher Advisory group incorporates priests and government authorities who address all region of the public authority, businesses and areas to co-ordinate cross country endeavors for the environment culmination.
Cop 28 will happen from November 30 until 12 December 2023 at Exhibition City Dubai.
