The COP28 Administration is organizing the Business and Generosity Environment Discussion (BPCF) on December 1 and 2, coinciding with the World Environment Action Summit. This CEO-level Forum is designed to bring together global business leaders and philanthropists to advance cross-sectoral progress toward net-zero and nature-positive goals, aligning with the COP28 Presidential Action Agenda. The event is part of the UAE’s ambition to host an inclusive climate conference with participation from all regions of the world.
The key goals of the BPCF include promoting collaboration and speeding up solutions in the areas of climate and nature. It aims to bridge the gap between policy and practice through cross-sectoral partnerships and collaboration.
The event will feature prominent leaders from the business and philanthropic sectors, who will contribute their expertise and resources to address global environmental challenges. Discussions at the Forum will encompass the COP28 Action Agenda’s priorities, such as a just energy transition, financing climate change, and promoting inclusivity.
Dr. King Al Jaber, the COP28 President-Assign, stressed the need for action and collaboration to address environmental finance and achieve net-zero pathways. Badr Jafar, the COP28 Special Representative for Business and Philanthropy, emphasized the crucial role of the private sector in achieving climate and nature goals.
The COP28 Action Agenda seeks to accelerate progress across various sectors, including decarbonization, clean energy capacity, adaptation, and resilience building. The Forum will address various aspects, such as technology transfer, green investments, investment for nature conservation, support for climate SMEs and startups, and resilience for the most vulnerable.
The Forum is expected to gather over 500 leaders and philanthropists to discuss private sector involvement in climate and nature action. Sessions will take place in both the COP28 Blue Zone and Green Zone, covering topics related to climate and nature action.
The Forum marks the beginning of the two-week COP28 program, running from November 30 to December 12. Badr Jafar, CEO of Crescent Enterprises and COP28 Special Representative for Business and Philanthropy, is actively involved in various initiatives related to social entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and corporate governance.
